Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861-1865, Santa Barbara, California – Laura Belle Stoddard Tent 22

Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861-1865 (DUVCW) a non-profit organization, was founded by and for women who are direct descendants of Union veterans who fought for the preservation of our Nation during the American Civil War. We are the oldest and largest U.S. Civil War women’s organization genealogically based on lineal descent. DUVCW was incorporated in Massillon, Ohio in 1885 and endorsed by the Grand Army of the Republic in 1900. Members currently reside in 26 states and the District of Columbia and meet in local groups called Tents.

We work to preserve history and promote patriotism. We do this by helping to preserve Civil War battlefields, historic sites, and Union monuments, and by participating in ceremonies on national and local holidays. We have a scholarship program. The Daughters also maintain a free public Civil War Museum in Springfield, Illinois.
